I'm Guilherme, a self-employed cybersecurity consultant working under the name Defensione. Born in Brazil and living in the Netherlands since 1997, I've spent most of my life balancing two distinct cultures. That background has shaped how I approach technical problems: I don't believe in rigid, one-size-fits-all playbooks. Navigating different perspectives early on taught me to listen carefully, question assumptions, and look at complex systems from multiple angles before driving toward a solution.

My fascination with technology started when I was a kid. What began as curiosity about how systems fit together grew into a career in IT and enterprise security. Over the years I've worked across identity, access, risk, and infrastructure, with identity and privileged access management as a strong focus among them. For me, cybersecurity isn't just about enforcing compliance, it's about protecting the invisible architecture that real people depend on every day. That's also why I like staying close to the people I work with directly: no bench of juniors, no account manager in between.

Outside of security, I'm just as curious about everything else. Some weekends that means renovating part of the house myself, others it's a software side project or a completely random rabbit hole that has nothing to do with IT. If it's interesting, I want to know how it works.
